This message confronts our tendency to base faith on signs, circumstances, and external outcomes. Too often, we approach God with an if–then mentality: If God really loves me, then why is this happening? If God is all-powerful, then how could this occur? Hebrews 11:6 establishes the true rule of faith—we must believe that He IS. Faith is anchored not in favorable conditions, but in the unchanging character of God. He is holy, loving, omnipresent, all-knowing, all-powerful, and eternal. Drawing from the story of Gideon in Judges 7, we see God intentionally reduce Gideon’s army from 32,000 to just 300—not because God lacked power, but because He wanted Gideon to trust in who God IS, rather than in visible strength or human advantage. As we step into a new year, this same challenge confronts us: Will we place our confidence in circumstances, or will we fully trust the God who never changes?
